Girvan is a seaside town located on the Ayrshire coast 29 miles north of Stranraer and 21 miles south of Ayr, possessing beautiful coastal scenery where you can watch the seals basking on the rocks. The harbour is a central attraction where day trips to Ailsa Craig are available. The town embraces many traditional seaside attractions such as amusements and a boating pond. Numerous castles can be visited in the surrounding area, some merely ruins, others still remain noticeable in all their glory.
Eat and Drink
Just before entering Girvan travelling from Stranraer is the lovely Woodland Bay Hotel and Restaurant and continuing north on the A77 you will find Souters Inn Bar and Restaurant. There are also a selection of coffee shops and fish and chip shops.
Sport and Recreation
Open space for walking and running is plentiful with the sea front promenade. There is also a new leisure centre with pool located at the harbour. Girvan has it’s own golf course and is only a short distance away from the world famous golf links at Trump Turnberry resort.
