Perhaps one of the most scenic villages on this coastal road from Stranraer to Ayr, dominated by the ruins of Ardstinchar Castle, once home to the Kennedys Bargany, lies the attractive village of Ballantrae. For those who don’t drive, there is a bus service from Ballantrae to Girvan which stops outside King’s Arms Hotel and only takes 25 minutes.
